Beschreibung

Leather is one of humankind's oldest materials and is still worked in many crafts today, from saddlers to shoemakers. Vegetable-tanned leather is particularly well suited to hand work: it can be cut, skived, sewn, dyed and shaped, and develops its own patina with use. Hand-sewn seams such as the saddle stitch are considered especially durable, because every stitch is set individually and the seam does not unravel even if a thread breaks. The workshop teaches the basic techniques on which belts, bags and many other leather projects are built.
Kursinhalt
  • Working with a round knife, skiving knife, awls, stitching clam, edge beveler, creasing tool, groover, bone folder, vegetable-tanned leather, dyes, threads and more
  • Cutting, skiving, edge skiving and folding leather, with and without grooving
  • Hand stitching: preparing the threads, saddle stitch, stitching in a groove, hidden stitch, secure threading, finishing off threads, joining broken threads, correcting stitching errors
  • Edge work and burnishing leather edges (with and without dye)
  • Decoration, creased lines
  • Workarounds and alternatives if a tool is not available
  • Finishing: removing stains, oiling, waxing, polishing
Hinweise

Material costs are not included in the workshop fee. They are charged according to consumption and settled directly with the instructor on site, and amount to approx. €40. Please plan for this amount in addition to the workshop fee.

Times and location: Each workshop day runs from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at KursWerkstatt München, Haager Straße 9, 4th floor, 81671 Munich.

During the workshop we provide water, coffee and fruit. In the afternoon there is also cake.

Good to know: If you can't make it after all, you can send a substitute participant free of charge at any time. If you cancel up to 31 days before the workshop starts, we charge only 5% of the workshop fee; after that, the full fee is due. Workshop bookings are binding; there is no right of withdrawal.
